When you’re creating a story, where should you start?
It’s important to start with a purpose. What is it that you want people to think, feel, or do differently when you’re done speaking?
There aren’t just one or two reasons for this:
You might want people to sign up for a newsletter that you offer.
Maybe you want them to schedule an appointment with you.
Perhaps buy a product
Maybe buy into an idea
No matter what it is, always start with the end in mind.
Most importantly, give them only one choice. If you give them more than one, they’ll be confused. As the old saying goes, “A confused mind says no, but a clear mind says go!”
Give them one choice and they’re much more likely to take action.
What do you want them to think, feel, or do when you’re done telling your story?
